EVENT - Library Week

VENUE: Library, Laucala Campus

DATE: 16th – 20th May

The library held a number of exhibitions throughout the Anniversary year in the foyer at the Laucala campus. The display showed how library services have evolved over the years and how the transfer of knowledge has moved from print to digital resources. The distinctive Pacific Collection, one of the world’s largest collections of Melanesian, Polynesian and Micronesian books, serial titles including journals, magazines and newspapers, theses, consultancy reports and government documents, conference and symposia proceedings, reprints, DVDs, CD-ROMs, videotapes and microforms, maps, posters and ephemera were displayed. It was an opportunity to learn of the people who have shaped the development of academic learning across the region and the role that USP library played in the development of the Fiji Library Association (FLA). Coinciding with the opening of the Library building opening in May 1988, the Library hosted a week of debates, panel discussions, impromptu talks and interviews involving students, past and present library staff. The week ended with a Bula Dinner for friends of the Library.
